The Open is over - but why waste all those conditioning gains after five weeks of AMRAPs and burpees? In typical fashion, the wild/STRONG crew is itching to compete again. The Battle of The Boxes, hosted by CrossFit MOB in Thornton, Colorado - provides athletes with the perfect opportunity to scratch that itch after the Open.
My girlfriend and I will be joining our friends Jake and Samantha - and a number of athletes from our home gym, at the event on Sunday. Jake and I both celebrate birthdays this week, so we figured what better way to usher in the next year of our lives, than by competing? (I should note that I have ushered in more than a dozen additional years than young Jake has)
We met Jake and Sammie at the Bumper Plate Date at Big Thompson CrossFit in Loveland, CO, where we all competed against each other. This time around, the teams are male/male and female/female, so it's time for a little battle of the sexes to see where we finish.
We will be live streaming as many of the events as we can, so make sure to keep an eye on the wild/STRONG Facebook page for those streams. We are heading down to Denver on Friday for massages, an Avalanche game, dinner, shopping and of course, all the breakfast foods.
Here is a list of the workouts and floaters from Battle of the Boxes. Looking forward to HSPU, Pistols and the max distance heavy farmer's carry. I'll be back on Monday with a report from the weekend!
