wild/STRONG Friday Q&A with the Founder

Happy Friday to all our wild/STRONG Tribe. February has been a big month here at HQ. In just 18 days we are already having our biggest sales month ever. We can't thank you all enough for your support. We have had to restock three different products this month and we have some seriously bad-ass new stuff coming in the next 4 weeks, so keep an eye on your emails for some cool products getting dropped. Here's a quick Q&A with our Founder about the week that was.

What book are you reading right now?

The Wolf of Wall Street. A great read for anyone interested in what success looked like in the 1980's. Hint: It involved a lot of hookers and cocaine.

I picked up “The Wolf of Wall Street” at an airport on my way to Tahoe a few weeks ago. I loved the movie and as I’m learning, it was pretty much dead-on from the book. It’s a great read – and really shows you how success doesn’t change a person, it just highlights who you already are. Also shows a lot of pitfalls when money is your only motivator. I try to read one fiction and one non-fiction book at the same time. I’m also making my way through Robert Greene’s “48 Laws of Power”. Terrific read for anyone. Thanks to my brother for the reco.

What’s on your playlist right now?

I’m really jamming to a lot of “The Chainsmokers” right now. I love EDM and saw them live in Denver a few months ago. Just got tickets to see them again in September. Everything I hear from them right now is great. For me they are one of those groups I can listen to anytime, in the gym, driving, relaxing at home. Good shit.

What annoyed you this week on social media?

All these people talking about what a moron Kanye West is. The guy is a shameless self-promoter and is so amazing at getting everyone to talk about him. These same people calling him an idiot, are doing exactly what he set out to make them do – talk about him on social media. He’s not $50M in debt, and he is not an idiot. His new album will sell like crazy and all the people hating on him are helping him get there. They are the idiots. He is the entertainer who is making millions of dollars – how much did you make today while talking about what an idiot he is?

You call him an idiot on your Facebook page: He sells millions of albums and laughs all the way to the bank, while you try to figure out how to beg your boss for a half-day off so you can play video games in your mom's basement. So who won?

What did you see on social media that interested you?

Loved seeing what Donald Trump did with the domain names of his opponents. It was a valuable lesson in politics and business for anyone watching. Jeb Bush uses www.jebbushforpresident.com for his campaign, but did not go out and purchase the domain names of HIS name. So now www.jebbush.com redirects to Trump’s website, as does www.hillaryclinton.net . Domain names are super cheap and it was just another way Trump beat everyone this week. More than a million people were talking about this on Facebook yesterday – that’s a big win for the man who appears more and more likely to be wrapping up the GOP nomination for President.

Another week, another win for The Donald. This week he taught the other candidates a valuable lesson about owning your own name.

What are you doing this weekend?

Filling orders with my kids, eating awesome breakfast foods, lifting weights and doing some Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Saturday. Sunday I am getting together with some of my old friends from Alabama and snowboarding in Steamboat. I hope all of you have an awesome, wild/STRONG weekend!

My weekends always start the same way - with a morning date with the barbell. Go and do likewise.

What quote did you read this week that inspired you?

Someone at work forwarded an email with quotes from Andy Rooney from 60 Minutes. It was called “Things I’ve learned…”

One of them said “I’ve learned that no one is perfect, until you fall in love with them.” Anyone who has ever fallen in love knows how true this is. I certainly do.

What question do you have for your readers?

I wrote a blog earlier this week about how I got back into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after a long layoff – talking about using your fitness. I’d love to hear what hobbies or sports they engage in that uses their fitness.
